SUMMARY:Webinar | Online Copyright Education Center Update and Discussion
DESCRIPTION:Over the past year\, Columbia University Libraries Copyright Advisory Services\, the Copyright Office at the University of Michigan Library\, and an advisory group of world-class experts piloted a new online copyright education center with classes on copyright issues and management. Our vision is to inform and empower our community\, recognizing that copyright and related issues are foundational to our networked\, digital world and emphasizing equitable access to reliable\, relevant\, understandable information. Across museums\, libraries\, archives\, research\, scholarship\, and education there is a convergence of copyright issues\, their impact on day-to-day and strategic decisions\, and the distinct ways in which copyright turns up across these sectors. The aim of the initiative is to address these points of convergence. This session will discuss the lessons learned from the pilot\, next steps\, and what will be offered for late spring 2022 and beyond. Join us for an update on our pilot and our work toward a sustainable service model. We invite conversation and feedback. \nOutcomes\n\nGain insights into the current state of copyright literacy\nReceive information about how to access these trustworthy new educational resources to become empowered\nShare feedback that can help shape the future work of the initiative so as to gain maximum benefit\n\n  \nPresenters:  Melissa Levine\, Director\, Copyright Office\, University of Michigan-Ann Arbor   &    Rina Pantalony \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Partnerships in Instruction: Deepening Collaboration Among Instructional Support Staff\, Faculty and Students | Educause
DESCRIPTION:Teaching and learning is of critical importance to academic libraries as they seek to align themselves with the mission of their universities. To effectively support faculty in their teaching\, librarians and other instructional support staff need techniques and tools to foster collaboration. The demand for online instructional support during the pandemic affirmed the necessary role of libraries in assisting students and faculty. Join us to discuss how librarians might join forces with instructional support staff such as learning designers\, instructional technologists\, professional developers for centers of teaching and learning to enhance collaborative work with faculty and students. Questions we will explore together include: \n\nWhat are your challenges in supporting courses?\nHow can we enhance our collaboration to better support courses?\nWhat processes and relationships do we need for collaborative instructional support?\nWhat kind of professional development and/or workplace learning among staff and faculty might support these efforts?\n\nThe main audience for this QuickTalk is instructional librarians\, instructional technologists\, learning designers\, professional development staff (in centers of teaching and learning)\, and other instructional support staff who would like to collaborate to improve teaching and learning. \nFacilitated by:  John McCormick\, Associate Director of Learning Design | Brandeis University\, Waltham Massachusetts   \n                           Kathe Pelletier\, Director\, Teaching and Learning Program | Educause\, Washington\, District of Columbia \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Digital Learning as a Tool for Social Justice
DESCRIPTION:Research shows that student performance in gateway courses is a direct predictor of retention and student success. However\, Black\, Latinx\, Indigenous\, and other minoritized student groups have historically been underserved in these courses\, resulting in higher DFWI rates and lower retention rates for these students. Digital learning can be a catalyst for improving course outcomes for historically minoritized students\, but instructors also need awareness and tools to address the affective\, interpersonal\, and situational challenges that Black\, Latinx\, Indigenous\, and other minoritized student groups experience. In this session\, I will share strategies for faculty and institutional leaders for digital learning transformation at scale that centers on equity and racial justice. \nOutcomes\n\nRecognize the challenges of digital learning facing Black\, Latinx\, Indigenous\, and other minoritized student groups\nExplain how intentional course design and instructor strategies can improve course outcomes for historically minoritized students\nDescribe strategies for digital learning transformation at scale that centers on equity\n\n\n\nSpeakers\n\n\n\n\nJessica Rowland Williams\nDirector Every Learner Everywhere\, WICHE/WCET

SUMMARY:Webinar | What Is the Digital Campus? The Future of Student Engagement (EDUCAUSE)
DESCRIPTION:The rules of higher ed are changing fast\, and the time has come for colleges and universities to radically change the ways they engage\, collaborate\, and communicate with constituents. \nFrom campus tours to advising\, libraries\, and events\, digital transformation is redefining the concept of physical presence. We are no longer offices with front desks and phones. Employees today need a front-line communications platform at the ready to communicate information to more audiences\, faster\, using multiple channels\, from the first encounter\, no matter where they are or what device they are using. But migrating from siloed and segmented systems to a single\, more powerful platform is no small task. Join our panel as we discuss this journey and share best practices to help your campus become more digital. \nOutcomes\n\nEvolve and adapt the needs of various student populations\nAdapt and prepare for the changing needs for classroom instruction\nExplore new ways to have a local and virtual campus\nEnsure safety and security\nLeverage omni-channel communications to connect to students via social media\n\nSpeakers:  Sarah Christen | Director IT Infrastructure\, Cornell University \nNaveed Husain | VP\, Vertical Programs\, Public Sector & Education\, Ring Central\, Inc. \nRebecca Joffrey | IT Innovations Office\, Cornell University \nJim Lundy | CEO & Lead Analyst\, Aragon Research

SUMMARY:Webinar | Anti-Racism in Academia: A Learning Journey – Learn (Partner Webinar)
DESCRIPTION:In response to the dialogue across EDUCAUSE community groups and within our personal lives\, a small group of community leaders have developed the Anti-Racism in Academia: A Learning Journey (ARiA) series. The ARiA series was created to inspire a more understanding and inclusive community in higher education by engaging professionals of all levels and across disciplines. Combatting racism on a personal\, professional\, and communal scale requires time and intentional effort; it really is a journey of discovery and understanding. \nThe ARiA series framework is organized into five parts: Reach Out\, Listen\, Learn\, Act\, Persist. \nThis month’s focus is on Learning from the conversations and shared resources with the goal of achieving conscientiousness around racism. Come join us for the kickoff webinar\, and sign-up for a breakout discussion. \nOutcomes\nWe want to enable participants to get the most out of their learning journey. We designed the ARiA framework to accomplish three main goals: \n\nCreate safe spaces to explore\, share\, and learn.\nPromote personal and professional growth through expanded awareness and expanded understanding of different racial perspectives.\nEmpower participants to foster a more inclusive and understanding higher ed community with expanded ideas\, perspectives\, and strategies.\n\nBelow is the link to register for the webinar. \nhttps://apps.cirrusidentity.com/console/ds/index?entityID=https%3A%2F%2Fsso.educause.edu%2Fsp&return=https%3A%2F%2Fsso.educause.edu%2Fmodule.php%2Fsaml%2Fsp%2Fdiscoresp.php%3FAuthID%3D_7ec2c75c8a02870f724034f3dc9607e625d2f76102%253Ahttps%253A%252F%252Fsso.educause.edu%252Fidp%252FstartSSO.ping%253Fspentityid%253Durn%25253Acvent%25253Aevents%2526RelayState%253Dhttp%25253A%25252F%25252Fwww.cvent.com%25252Fd%25252F37qq9f%25252F4W%2526cookieTime%253D1601050673&returnIDParam=idpentityid
