SUMMARY:Rubric Writing for Inline Grading in Elentra
DESCRIPTION:Writing rubrics doesn’t need to be a daunting task. The initial investment in time pays off when it cuts the time for grading of each individual assignment\, as well as provides students the feedback they need to improve their learning. With Elentra\, rubrics can be created that speed up the workflow for grading for the instructor and provide feedback to the student in one stop. This will make for a streamlined workflow in grading assignments\, SOAP notes\, papers\, and completion certificates. Grades are automatically transferred into the course gradebook. \nSession objectives: \n\nDiscuss the elements of writing a rubric: scales of mastery\, items and groupings\nDescribe the process of creating scales\, items and forms to create rubrics in Elentra\nDiscuss the inline grading process in Elentra using an attached assessment form (Rubric)\nDescribe the two areas in Elentra where they can find feedback from the rubrics

SUMMARY:IAMSE Webinar - Learning Communities: Creating Structures for Peer Support
DESCRIPTION:In this webinar\, we will describe how Learning Communities can be used to support struggling students. Learning Communities are intentionally formed groups of students and faculty who actively learn from each other while building relationships that enhance support networks. LC programs can assist struggling students in a multitude of ways and can be easily integrated with other student support structures in a medical school. We will describe how this is done at a variety of institutions across the country. \n  \nSpeakers:  Caroline Harada\, MD \,University of Alabama Birmingham \nLauren Parker\, MA \,University of Kansas School of Medicine \n  \n

SUMMARY:Creating Your Own Infographics
DESCRIPTION:Let’s make data pretty! This CETL Session is all about Infographics. \nSimply put\, an infographic is a visual representation of information. By combining elements of text\, images\, charts\, or diagrams\, an infographic is an effective tool to present data and explain complex issues in a way that can quickly lead to insight and better understanding. As designers\, researchers\, staff\, scholars\, or students may be asked at some point in our career to create an infographic; but where does one even begin? \n  \nDuring this session we will: \n– discuss how data can be reimagined to be visually appealing \n– analyze 3-4 infographic design platforms \n– use the design platforms to mold boring facts and figures into something visually extraordinary! \n  \nPlease note: This session will be a hands-on workshop and attendees will be encouraged to participate in the hands-on design process during this session.

SUMMARY:Research Posters: Turning Drab into Fab
DESCRIPTION:We’ve seen them…we’ve made them…and we’ve walked right past them…Research Posters. \n  \nThe purpose of a research poster is to visually represent the general overview\, data\, and most relevant findings of a research project. When preparing to design your poster you’ve likely taken your thoughtful research or well-drafted manuscript and you’ve widdled it down to the bare bones with just a few remaining sentences; next you probably chopped those sentences into bullet points and then plopped those well-crafted statements into a sterile three-or-four column template\, adorned with some sort of chart\, cladly themed in the university colors. \n  \nWe’ve been using the same academic research poster templates for the last three decades. Why? \nScience has advanced tremendously since the 90’s\, why hasn’t research poster design? \n  \nIn this session\, we will: \n\ndiscuss research poster basics\ncritique traditional poster design\napply updated design techniques\nrecognize better poster design 2.0\nexplain where to go for help
