SUMMARY:Team-Based Learning 101
DESCRIPTION:Team-Based Learning is an evidence based collaborative learning teaching strategy designed around units of instruction\, that are taught in a three-step cycle. Some medical schools are reporting an ABIM pass rate of 85% before TBL implementation\, and a95% pass rate after TBL implementation. \nSome Benefits of TBL over Didactic teaching include: \n\nImproved learner engagement during class\nBetter content retention through active learner engagement\nDevelopment of problem-solving and critical thinking skills\nTeam-building\n\nThis session will introduce you to Team-Based Learning and provide resources to get you started.  Learning objectives include: \n\nDefine Team-Based Learning\nDescribe the four essential elements of TBL\nIdentify the S’ of Application Development\nExplain the TBL Course Framework

SUMMARY:Webinar - Convert Classroom Training to Blended Learning using your Creativity & Adobe Technology
DESCRIPTION:Blended learning is a common buzz phrase in L&D\, and it’s one that deserves attention. You may even deliver the same course content in multiple delivery formats so learners can choose how they want to learn. \nMixing and matching many delivery formats\, including videos\, games\, virtual reality (VR) activities\, can help you as an L&D manager to create a learning environment that is engaging and cost-effective. \nJoin us for this interactive session with Katrina Marie Baker presenting ways to make developing and delivering blended learning programs easier\, using learning technology! \nKatrina Marie Baker will provide food for thought on the following points: \n\nBenefits of blended learning as they relate to the learner and organization\nA cost comparison of 100% instructor-led training (ILT) versus blended learning\nHow to incorporate classroom experiences with other types of course content to engage learners\nWays learning technology can add value and make it easier to develop and deliver blended learning\nUnderstand how the Fluidic player can help you leverage fully blended courses in your training programs

SUMMARY:Webinar - Train Faculty to Recognize Students in Crisis: Responding & Conducting Referrals
DESCRIPTION:With mental illness on the rise and 33% of students reporting that they felt so depressed within the last 12 months that it was difficult to function\, faculty and staff are often keenly aware of what is happening with their students\, but unsure how to help. Faculty are often on the front line responding to students in crisis. It is critical they have proper training to recognize students at risk and for them to feel confident conducting referrals for the range of diverse mental health issues students face today. \nGather your faculty and join our expert presenter he will empower your faculty and staff to realize the critical role they play in your students’ lives\, how to balance engagement and how to get them to the appropriate resources without escalating a situation.

SUMMARY:Webinar - Strategies to Engage Faculty in Research Growth
DESCRIPTION:An increasing number of universities are under pressure to boost their research activity to gain more prestige\, foster greater learning opportunities\, and better contribute to economic development and innovation. However\, breaking into such a competitive space requires interest from faculty\, which can be a challenging due to their heavy teaching loads or lack of understanding of how research can benefit their institutions. \n \nA key vehicle in engaging faculty with research growth is communication. In order to gain trust\, it’s crucial to use techniques that promote transparency and effectively justify the value of growing research.

SUMMARY:IAMSE Webinar - Stepping Beyond the “Step 1 Climate”
DESCRIPTION:Join a conversation about how our medical education community could collaboratively address the “Step 1 climate” that is described by medical students in a recent Academic Medicine article. The lead author will explore how Step 1 has inadvertently but incontrovertibly adversely altered the preclinical learning environment\, specifically with regard to the quality of education\, diversity\, and student well-being. The author of an accompanying commentary will provide historical context as to the purpose for which this test was designed and the unintended consequences as it has been used for other purposes\, such as residency selection. Bring creativity\, imagination\, and a willingness to seek consensus options that address all stakeholder group needs.

SUMMARY:IAMSE Webinar - Role of Foundational Sciences in Clinical Years
DESCRIPTION:Traditional medical curricula generally place the majority of foundational science learning into the pre-clerkship years. Yet\, it has been recognized that foundational science education should occur across the medical curriculum to promote excellence in clinical performance. This session will provide participants with an innovative approach to integrating foundational sciences and meaningful clinical experiences in the post-clerkship curriculum. Participants will learn about several educational strategies and the resources necessary to achieve successful integration of foundational sciences and patient care. Furthermore\, participants will recognize the challenges and learn practical solutions of this approach in order to implement post-clerkship foundational science integration at their own institutions.

SUMMARY:IAMSE Webinar - Going Lecture Free for Gen Z
DESCRIPTION:The Wright Curriculum\, a lecture free curriculum\, began in 2017 at Wright State University Boonshoft School of Medicine\, with the goal of having students become self-directed learners using evidence-based teaching and learning activities. We have several aims with this curriculum. First\, help students develop skills in critical thinking. Second\, help students learn how to discover the best evidence to make decisions. Third\, give students the skills to keep learning throughout a life of service in the practice of medicine. \nSince Peer Instruction is being utilized in over 60% of our curricular time\, we will spend more time discussing Peer Instruction\, from the faculty perspective in developing session material and how to effectively facilitate sessions\, and from the student perspective in how learning gains are made in the sessions. \nAt the end of the session\, participants will be able to: \n\nExplain the evidence and rationale for using active learning strategies throughout medical school\, and how active learning strategies contribute to student attendance and team-work.\nFormulate effective approaches to implementing a lecture-free curriculum that is grounded in science\, specifically using the teaching modality of Peer Instruction (PI).\nIntroduce best-practice strategies\, tips\, and lessons learned from going lecture-free.”\n\n

SUMMARY:Webinar | Universal Design for Learning: Creating Learning for All
DESCRIPTION:Schools and the workplace are filled with diverse learners. One-size-fits-all eLearning may not meet all learners’ needs. How can we design eLearning and our training materials to reduce barriers and meet the needs of all learners? Please join UCI Division of Continuing Education in welcoming Dr. Jean Marrapodi\, Senior Learning Architect for Illumina Interactive Learning\, as she presents Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and its set of principles for curriculum development that give all individuals equal opportunities to learn. \nYou will discover an educational framework based on research in the learning sciences (including cognitive neuroscience) that guides the development of flexible learning environments that can accommodate individual learning differences. \nAt the end of the session\, you will recognize changes that are needed in your design practices and be able to implement UDL paradigms moving forward. \n\n\n\nPresented by:\nUCI Division of Continuing Education

SUMMARY:Webinar | Strategies for Effective and Actionable Academic Program Reviews
DESCRIPTION:Be more intentional and data-driven in your academic review process. With ever increasing pressure to stay relevant\, institutions need to be more intentional in how they approach academic program review. It’s essential to integrate the right data for the right reasons in order to close the gap between process and actionable results. A lack of consistent data\, metrics\, and staff engagement can often cloud results and render the process ineffectual. \nJoin us for this live webcast to learn: \n\nWhy and how institutions are changing their academic program review processes\nHow you can start collecting and sharing trustworthy data to support the process\nHow you can approach transforming your academic program review process to support your resource planning decisions\n\nIn this session\, our expert from University of Denver will explain how they aligned their data\, gained the trust of their peers and board members\, and transformed the academic program review process into a substantive\, strategic conversation. \n\n\n\nPresented by:\nAcademic Impressions\n\n\n\nLinda A.
